Across 77 Districts Without Money

1st July 2025 KOREA

In a time when tourism in Nepal seeks revival and global visibility, a 19-year-old youth from Bhojpur has taken it upon himself to show the world the beauty, culture, and hospitality of Nepal — by traveling to all 77 districts without spending a single rupee.

Pradeep Rai, originally from Ram Prasad Rai Rural Municipality, Ward No. 7, Bhojpur, has become a social media sensation through his solo mission titled “Travel Documentary of Nepal”. Known online by his username Mundum Temke, Pradeep is not just a traveler — he is a storyteller, a culture ambassador, and a voice for rural youth who dream big despite limited resources.

His journey is simple in plan but extraordinary in execution. With no financial backing, Pradeep set off on foot, hitchhiking and relying solely on the kindness of strangers, local support, and his unwavering determination. His purpose is clear: to promote Nepal’s hidden beauty, traditions, and unity through travel, and to inspire Nepali youth and the international community alike.

“I wanted to prove that Nepal is not just about Everest and Kathmandu,” says Pradeep in one of his viral videos. “From the plains of Terai to the high Himalayas, every district has a story, and I want to document that story through my eyes.”

Armed with only a mobile phone and a backpack, Pradeep captures stunning landscapes, traditional music, folk stories, and the hospitality of villagers who feed and shelter him along the way. His journey is not just physical, but emotional — filled with laughter, struggle, cultural learning, and moments of self-discovery.

Social media has played a crucial role in amplifying his mission. His followers on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram continue to grow rapidly under the name Mundum Temke, where he posts daily updates, vlogs, and powerful stories from each destination. Through his lens, the world is witnessing not just tourism, but the soul of Nepal.

Despite challenges like harsh weather, language barriers in certain regions, and lack of resources, Pradeep’s journey continues with even more energy. Local government bodies, youth clubs, and travel enthusiasts have started recognizing his effort, some even joining him temporarily or providing basic assistance.

His vision is not just to finish the 77-district journey, but to compile the entire experience into a full documentary series that will promote Nepal internationally. Talks are already in place with content producers and tourism boards who see his journey as a grassroots promotional campaign with global impact.

Pradeep Rai’s story is not just about travel. It’s about hope, unity, and the belief that one young voice from a remote village in Bhojpur can echo across the world — carrying with it the beauty and strength of Nepal.

As he moves forward district by district, his message remains strong.
